  Extremely unhappy and disappointed in their knowledge and service over the phone. Sorry to say but I believe them to be lazy and unable to give advice on fixing their mistakes. They should just say, " Sorry for screwing you over. Have a great day in South Carolina". This is my first time ever leaving a review for a company because I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to work. However, SCDMV has changed my mind. They do not know the exact information to give when it comes to registering your new vehicle when out of state. We purchased our vehicle in NY and SCDMV over the phone told us it would be easy to register it in SC since we have a house there. The woman on the phone gave a list of instructions (paperwork needed) and we followed them exactly only to find out that she "forgot" to tell us there was more needed. She also forgot to tell us it would take 2-4 weeks to get a reply. They should just tell you it takes 4 weeks. She also told us that we did not need to send in the 4057 document for changing our address because the new mailing address would be on the registration/title paperwork. So they packed it all up after 4 weeks of waiting and mailed it to the correct address we gave them on the paperwork. When we finally received our new list of instructions we once again followed it and sent it out "certified mail". Only to find out when we called a couple of weeks later to check up on it that we once again missed "one" piece of paperwork they needed. And instead of calling us to try and get that paperwork (because I know they can receive faxes) they pack it all up again and mailed it back. This time though whoever was dealing with our customer number didn't care to look at the address it was to be mailed to and sent it to an address we have not lived at in two years. I do not know how you can go from getting the mailing address right the first time only to get it wrong the second time. And on top of that, not send it out "certified mail" so that we have some way of tracking their mistake. So we now have original title paperwork and other important needed paperwork lost somewhere in SC that I am trying to find and the SCDMV can give no advice or help. Seriously my husband and I received "dead silence on phone" when we brought the situation up to them. It is also nice to know that they obviously lie to you over the phone when telling you that they are putting the conversation down in the notes linked to your customer number. I guess it is our fault in believing that people there know how to do their job. Thank you for failing us.

  - PLEASE NOTE THESE 5 STARS ARE SOLELY FOR THE COUNTER REPRESENTATIVE (DORIS JOHNSON) THAT SERVED ME. 1 STAR GOES TO EVERY OTHER PART OF MY VISIT. I visited the South Carolina DMV - Bylthewood Branch yesterday (July 25th) arriving at 9:35 am. I live in Lexington but thought I would receive faster service at Blythewood branch. My visit was a very simple one. I wanted to trade my basic Clemson University with the new Clemson University State Champion plate. I made it to receptionist at 9:53 am , signed in and told her what I wanted to do. She signed me in but didn't inform me I needed to fill out any forms. - When I stepped into waiting room, I found it completely packed with an overflow out the door. I was warned that there was a LONG wait. After 12 minutes, I was able to find a seat. (Note I have multiple sclerosis and, thus, handicapped. Standing is extremely difficult and painful) I finally found a seat. I was once again warned of an extremely wait and if I was smart I would go to another branch. I foolishly decided to wait. After 30 minutes, I was blessed to be called to window 4, the "home of Doris Johnson." She greeted me first with an apology for wait and a huge smile promising to take care of me. When she learned what I needed, she asked for my completely forms. She was upset when she learned I was instructed to complete required forms. I, too, was upset. Ms. Johnson printed the required forms, instructed me how to complete them and told me to just let her know when I was ready. I completely the forms and raised my hand saying I was finished. Within 1 minute, she called me to her counter apologizing for wait. She quickly processed my paperwork as she didn't want me to spend my entire morning at the DMV. - All I can say is that I was truly blessed to have been served by DORIS JOHNSON !!! She is an example of what all DMV employees should be. Ms. Johnson deserves a huge raise. And no, Ms Johnson isn't a family member or good friend and, thus, the reason for her grand review. Rather, I am a former state employee and like to applaud state employees for a job well done. I beg you to please applaud Ms. Johnson tell her of this review. I already plan on letting my state representative and senator know of Ms. Johnson.

  I understand its a holiday weekend approaching but to shut your phones off at 3pm and have the recording say to call back everyone is busy and you keep calling back and it just disconnects you is a shame. Our tax dollars hard at work...
